The Ocean Shore is a biome that is beautiful, as are many others, but humans tend to take that for granted. One of the human effects on the Ocean Shore is coastline pollution. When I say coastline pollution, I mean left behind trash, and food from humans. People could go to the beach and have a picnic, and leave all of their trash behind trash and food from humans. Think of the many people in the picnic party, and what if each of them left one piece of trash behind. Then think of the many picnic parties going on at all of the beaches in the world, and what if each person left one piece of trash on the shores then? Unfortunately, this problem is true, but to a smaller degree. Not every person at every picnic party is leaving things behind, but many are, and it is harming the animals and water of the beautiful Ocean Shore, so make sure next time you go to the beach, please clean up your trash!
This is a picture of a trashed beach. All of this trash is left behind by humans.
Humans Positive:
Fortunately, humans do realize the serious problems they are causing the Ocean Shore. They clean! Not only do they clean their own trash, but many people pick up things that you've probably seen on the beach that shouldn't be there: water bottles, plastic, styrofoam, glass, food waste, wrappers, cigarette butts, paper, pop cans, and tons more! By picking it up, humans help the animals from digesting dangerous objects and the waters from getting the items in it. And when there is toxic runoff, humans realize this and, in some situations, try to redirect the waste to a special area, or, if its too late, they try to clean it up. Ususally it is too late, making it harder for it to clean up, but people try their best to have it clean because we need clean waters!
Luckily, some people do pick up their trash, and other's trash too.
Problem and Possible Solution:
A problem that the ocean shore has is called noise pollution. IT is caused by boats creating lud motor noises that can interfere with whales trying to call. Also, testing of loud noises (usually by the military)has been proved to cause fatal internal hemmerhaging in dolphins. We could possibly solve this by creating quieter boats to save the whales. And we could test noises elsewhere.
Wow! Motor boats can be a blast, but are major noise polluters.
Another Problem and Possible Solution:
A big problem that is affecting the water is water pollution that comes from agricultural runoff. Humans should be concerned about this because, it can poison humans. For instance, when a bad chemical got into the ocean, shellfish ate it; not knowing it was bad for them. People in Japan got poisoned when they killed the shellfish for food. They ate the shellfish, which ate the bad chemical. Think of it this way. Humans are pretty much consuming the nasty chemicals, but not directly. Not only are agricultural runoffs poisoning humans, but they are also poisoning marine life. Sea birds, such as the brown pelican, were actually laying eggs with soft shells. This is awful, because the majority of the eggs get crushed or punctured, before the animal inside can develop into a being. A possible solution to the major problem of agricultural runoff is to use fewer pesticides and chemicals on your property. If that can’t be done, another solution would be for fertilizer makers to make less toxic fertilizers, so if it does run off into the ocean; it doesn’t harm animals to the degree that it is today.
